Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026. Applies to the Hughey's Judo app and to judo.joehughey.com.

Hughey's Judo ("the club," "we," "us") operates the Hughey's Judo app for our own members and coaches at Gracie Tampa South. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and who can see it.

This app is for adults only. You must be 17 or older to create an account, and there is no account type, feature, or data collection aimed at children.

Information we collect

We do not collect your location, financial information, browsing history, or contacts from your device.

How we use it

We use your information only to run the club and the app: signing you in, showing you and your coaches your training record, letting coaches reach you or your emergency contact, and sending the notifications described above. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Who can see it

You see your own profile, training record, and messages.
Coaches and admins can see the full roster, including attendance, belt rank, promotion history, emergency contact, and medical notes for every member. This is necessary to run classes and respond to injuries, and is enforced by database access rules (row-level security), not just app screens.
Other members see only what's needed for messaging (names, profile photos) and, in group chats, the other participants in that chat.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with data brokers or advertisers, ever.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. Each only receives the data needed to do its job:

Supabase: hosts our database, authentication, and file storage (profile photos, technique videos).
Resend: delivers the one-time sign-in code email.
Apple: provides Sign in with Apple as an alternative to email sign-in.
Expo: delivers push notifications to your device.
Stripe: if the club ever charges dues or mat fees through the app, payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we do not store your card details.

We do not use any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and the app does not track you across other apps or websites.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app, which removes your account and personal data, subject to any records we're required to keep (for example, attendance history tied to a promotion already awarded to another member may be retained in de-identified form).

Security

Your data is protected by access rules enforced at the database level, not only by the app's screens, so even a modified copy of the app cannot see or change data it isn't authorized for. Your session is stored securely on your device and is cleared when you sign out.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify members in the app.
